Our U3A News

Picture of Fountain Place, Poynton

We had our inaugural meeting in January 2011, and have become an active and busy U3A.
We have a wide variety of Interest Groups, with more always in the process of being formed. Details can be found on the Interest Groups page.
Please note that you cannot join interest groups or vote at the AGM unless you are a current member.
We have regular, well attended Monthly Meetings with a variety of speakers. There is always a very friendly atmosphere and all newcomers are made most welcome.

If you decide that you wish to join please come along to one of the Monthly Meetings, for which there is a 1 charge to cover costs.
Membership is 10 per annum (5 for October to December) but if you are unsure whether or not you want to join, you can attend our Monthly Meetings up to three times at a cost of 1 per visit.

Membership Renewal
Memberships expire at the end of December.  Note that you cannot join interest groups or vote at the AGM in March unless you are a current member.

To continue to enjoy the activities run by Poynton U3A you need to renew your membership by January 31st 2019.  You can renew at a General Meeting or by using the form in the November newsletter.  In order for us to keep in touch with you please let me know if your contact details have changed, that is, phone, address or email, using either the email address membership@poyntonu3a.org.uk or by enclosing a note with the renewal form.  If renewing by post please enclose a stamped, addressed envelope for return of your new membership card.

Membership is staying at 10 per annum.

If you would like to subscribe to the Third Age Matters magazine you can do so at any General Meeting.

New Members should use the initial Application Form.

New for 2018
During the 2018 membership renewal we will be trialling electronic payments.
Any member can if they wish pay by either a debit/credit card (including contactless, Apple Pay and Android Pay).
For those members who would prefer to still pay by cheque and cash, these will still be accepted.

Poynton Leisure Centre
Recently Poynton Leisure Centre indicated that it now has slots available during the day for activities, for example, indoor bowling, badminton, swimming, table tennis, yoga, pilates or simply room hire.   This can be followed by coffee and biscuits, if required, all included in the price.

If you feel encouraged to form a new group to make use of these facilites, contact Joan Stepto to discuss how to proceed.

North East Cheshire Network
Bramhall, Cheadle & Gatley, Cheadle Hulme, Poynton and Wilmslow U3As have formed an association known as the NORTH EAST CHESHIRE (NEC) NETWORK.

Importantly, the NEC NETWORK recognises OPEN GROUPS. These are Interest Groups organised, as usual, within a particular U3A but open to all members of all the U3As in the NEC NETWORK.  It is hoped that the membership of an Interest Group will increase once it has become an OPEN GROUP.  So far, a number of OPEN GROUPS have been formed.

Links to the websites of the U3As in the NEC NETWORK can be found on the Contact Us page and details of the OPEN GROUPS can be found on the Interest Groups page.
