I have booked a couple of Christmas outings as these have proved popular in the past few years. BUXTON & MATLOCK CHRISTMAS FAIRS - Sunday 6th December 2026 We will leave the High School at 9.30am and head to the lovely spa town of Buxton for the Pavilion Christmas Fair. The Octagon Hall and Lounge will feature a huge variety of stalls offering a wonderful mix of Christmas gifts, jewellery, original artwork, photography, ceramics, woodwork, handmade cards, children's toys and ladies' clothing, with free entry. You will have time to browse around the stalls, perhaps take a walk around the gardens if the weather is fine, or explore what the rest of the town has to offer and get some lunch. In the afternoon we will move on to Matlock where the Victorian Christmas Market will be in full swing in the town centre's Hall Leys Park. There will be over 200 stalls in free to enter marquees offering unique gifts, handmade crafts, seasonal food, artisan treats and festive fashion. There will be live entertainment and you can also visit the town centre where you will find independent shops and eateries. The afternoon will finish with a light show and then we will head back to Poynton and expect to be back at school around 6.30-7.00pm. Price: £23.50 (Includes coach and a tip for the driver) As it has been a very popular event in the last couple of years I have once again booked tickets for the Halle Christmas Carol Concert at the Bridgewater Hall. This is always a lovely concert with the orchestra and the three Halle choirs and makes a very enjoyable pre Christmas outing. I have booked for the afternoon performance on Saturday 19th December. The performance starts at 3.00pm, so the coach will be leaving school at 1.15pm. I have reserved enough tickets to take two coaches if there is sufficient interest. HALLE CHRISTMAS CAROL CONCERT - 3.00pm Saturday 19th December - Bridgewater Hall A traditional Christmas celebration for orchestra, choirs and audience with heart-warming music and carols performed by the brilliant Halle family. Featuring the Halle Orchestra, the Halle Choir, the Halle Youth Choir and the Halle Children's Choir. With conductor Stephen Bell.
