BAKEWELL & HADDON HALL CHRISTMAS MARKETS - Sunday 16th November 2025 We will leave the High School at 9am and head to the picturesque market town of Bakewell where a 'Quintessential English Christmas Market' with around 100 stalls, hosted by traders from the town and the Peak District, will be taking place in the town centre. You will have time to browse around the stalls and visit Bakewell's quaint historic courtyards, shops, and cafes and possibly buy one of the famous Bakewell Puddings. There will also be street entertainment from local bands, choirs, a DJ, magicians etc and you can even meet Santa! We will then make the short journey to Haddon Hall for the afternoon. Over 900 years old, Haddon is one of the country's finest examples of a Medieval and Tudor manor house, with wonderful gardens. Here the annual 'Mercatum Christmas Artisan Market' will feature over 180 talented artisans and makers showcasing a diverse range of crafts, including ceramics, art, chocolates, jewellery, candles, artisan stationery, perfumes, and much more, both inside and outside the Hall all set against a lovely festive backdrop. There is an entry fee, the ticket includes access to the house and grounds. We will leave Haddon late afternoon and expect to be back at school around 5.30-6pm. I have been asked to make you aware that for anyone with mobility issues, Haddon can be a difficult place to navigate, with lots of steps and uneven surfaces. Price: £32 (includes coach, entry to Haddon Hall Mercatum Market and a tip for the coach driver) Elaine. †Organised on behalf of Poynton High School PTA but open to Poynton u3a members. |
